Types of Hairloss

With age there is a greater risk of hair loss. This is due to the hormonal changes the body goes through and also because of a decrease in the number of active follicles. This does not mean that people who are younger are not at risk in losing hair. There are many reasons why people lose hair. The following are types of patterns in loosing hair:

Types of Hair Loss - Male Pattern Baldness: almost around 15% of American men face baldness around the age of 25 and around 40% face it during the age of 35. This pattern of baldness is completely natural and constitutes almost 95% of all male hair loss. However the real cause for hair loss is not known. This seems to be a combination of both the genetic makeup and changes in hormones. Looking at the baldness pattern in your parents, you can assess the risk for your hair loss.
Types of Hair Loss - Androgenetic Alopecia: this is a very common kind of baldness that can be seen in both men and women. In this process the hair loss is very gradual. In men the hair loss is usually in the front and on the vertex of the scalp.In women, it is in a diffused fashion. Usually the frontal hair does not get affected.
Female Pattern Baldness: almost 20 million American women are suffering from Female Pattern Baldness. According to researchers this is because of genetics and can start as early as puberty or during menopause because of the hormonal changes.
Stress-Related Baldness (Telogen Effluvium): Personal stress can have a very negative impact on the hair follicles. This is the second leading cause of hair loss; the good news is that this is only temporary. When the stress disappears the hair usually grows back.
Illness related hair loss: Generally illnesses such as Addison's disease, hypertension, syphilis, etc. are known to cause hair loss.The illnesses are usually things like Addison's disease, hypertension, syphilis, ect are known to cause hair loss. Some other severe illnesses like flu can also cause temporary baldness. But usually after you have recovered from the disease the hair usually grow back well.
Traction Alopecia: Repeated pulling of hair causes this kind of hair loss. It is usually triggered from braiding or knotting of the hair. There is another problem called as Trichotillomania; this is a situation where people pull their healthy hair out. Trichotillomania is usually a sign of a more complex emotional or mental problem.
Types of Hair Loss - Alopecia Areata: this is a kind of baldness where it happens in the form of circular patches around the scalp.This is also a situation caused due to physical problem called autoimmune dysfunction. Alopecia Areata can affect both women and men.This can affect anyone men or women.
Chemical Damage (Anagen Effluviam): this is a kind of hair loss where there is loss of patches of hair. This is caused because of the chemicals affecting the hair follicles. The common reason why this happens is - use of strong drugs, especially cancer drugs and chemotherapy. This kind of hair loss is temporary, and in most cases, there could be re-growth of hair.This kind of hair loss is temporary; there could be re-growth of hair.
